Prof. Doctor Abel García Abejas

Breve CV

A physician specializing in General and Family Medicine, with certification in Palliative Care from the Portuguese Medical Association.
He works at Lusíadas Hospital in Lisbon, where he combines clinical practice with chairing the Ethics Committee.
Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Beira Interior, where he teaches Medical Ethics, Bioethics, and Medical Humanities, coordinating the course “The Art of Medicine” as well as the first year of the Integrated Master’s Program in Medicine and the fifth year of Medical Ethics and Bioethics.
He is an elected member of the CEIC.
He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Beira Interior, a Master’s degree in Palliative Care, and a Master’s degree in Bioethics (Institut Borja de Bioètica, Universitat Ramon Llull).
He conducts research in the areas of bioethics, philosophy of medicine, palliative care, end-of-life dignity, artificial intelligence, and digital health. He is the author of numerous international scientific publications and a member of various national and international initiatives dedicated to clinical ethics and patient-centered medicine.
