Risk Prevention and Protection Rate

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and the epidemiological infection by Covid-19 changed the world and many of its effects will persist for a long time, and it is certain that the 'new normal' will never be the same as the pre-Covid-19 'normal'.

In light of this reality, the provision of health care in hospitals and clinics of the National Health System has undergone significant changes and now has even more specificities and operating constraints, particularly in terms of hygiene and disinfection.

Lusíadas Saúde units are no exception and the maintenance of measures for prevention, protection and control of infection is essential to guarantee maximum safety and quality in daily activity and to ensure the protection of Healthcare Professionals and Clients.

In this context, given the need to continue to accommodate significant costs with these measures, Lusíadas Saúde has instituted a Risk Prevention and Protection Rate as of June 1, 2022, eliminating the charging of values associated with Individual Protection Equipment 'Kits':

Visitors

In order to maintain the safety of patients, visitors and staff in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is still necessary to adjust the regulations regarding visits and companions for inpatients at the Lusíadas Units.

Given the vulnerability of inpatients, the rules applied in a hospital environment are different from those applied in the community.

Thus, all visitors must

  • Hygienize their hands at the entrance to the service and room, maintain physical distance and comply with respiratory etiquette;

  • Wear a surgical mask during their stay in the unit;

  • Refrain from interacting with other patients/clients.

The visit may be interrupted at the request of health professionals, when necessary.

If your family member is in a shared ward or inpatient room, only one visitor may be present with each patient and may alternate with other visitors. Specific areas or services, such as the Intensive Care Unit or Urgent Care, are subject to restrictions and the unit should be consulted.

Do not visit your family member if:

  • Exhibit symptoms suggestive of COVID-19

  • Receive a positive result for SARS-CoV-2 on a lab test less than 5 days ago

We ask that you inform the Hospital if you receive a positive result for SARS-CoV-2 on a lab tes

Companions

  • All inpatients may have a companion, who must be tested if presenting with acute respiratory symptoms.

  • In special circumstances, companions may not be allowed according to the patient's clinical condition.

  • During the stay in the room, the accompanying person must wear a surgical mask.

Pregnant Patients and People Accompanying Them

Maintain protective mask for both and wash/disinfect hands as needed.

In all deliveries, scheduled and unscheduled, the pregnant woman will be tested if she presents acute respiratory symptoms.

The same rules apply to the pregnant woman's companions as to other companions.
