Degree in Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine,University of Porto, in 1983.
General residency at Hospital Distrital de S. Marcos, Braga, Centro de Saúde Mental de Braga and Serviço de Tuberculose e Doenças Respiratórias de Braga during 1984 and 1985.
Passed the complementary residency admission exam with a classification of Good – 78% allowing him to fill a vacancy in the Radiology Department at Hospital de S. João – Porto.
Specialty residency in Radiodiagnosis at Hospital de S. João,complemented with internships and courses abroad, namely in Madrid at Hospital Universitário San Carlos; Cours de Tomodensitométrie – Marseille, and multiple Congresses and other national and international scientific meetings.
Took the final exam of the Complementary residency in Radiodiagnosis in 1990 with a classification of 19.5 and the Specialty exam of the National Medical Council was approved by unanimity and with distinction.
Continued clinical practice at Hospital de S. João do Porto and in 1992, after an admission exam with a classification of 19.3, was admitted as Hospital Assistant at IPO - Instituto Português de Oncologia (Portuguese Institute of Oncology) in Porto.
Attended an MRI internship in Brussels at Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, Université Catholique de Louvain in 1991 for 3 months.
Successfully applied for Assistant Graduate and Head of Department as per the hospital career.
Was Assistant Clinical Director at IPO Porto.
In 2008 requested a transfer to Hospital de S. Marcos de Braga, currently Hospital de Braga – Escala Braga, having filled a vacancy as Head of Department as per the Hospital Career.
Was Coordinator of the Radiology Deartment and later Director of the Department until January 2019.
